Enhancing Program Communications for Young People to Access Dignified Employment

Refugees and Host Community youth face challenges acquiring market relevant skills to overcome unemployment. The Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) aims to address this challenge.
RSM Eastern Africa, on behalf of the program’s 9 implementing organizations led by Muni University, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, contracted WEKOnnect to provide strategic communication assistance to the consortium partners; Gulu University, Bishop Stuart University; two international organizations, Finn Church Aid, Dan Church Aid; and four locally-based organizations, Community Empowerment for Rural Development, PALM Corps, Meeting Point Kitgum, and Young African Refugees for Integral Development.
We conducted a communication capability mapping, facilitated the development of a communication strategy, communication workshop, virtual and physical capacity building sessions, communication materials, and provided strategic communication guidance on community mobilization, digital engagement, coordinating media, community outreach, public awareness campaigns, reputational risk, and crisis communication.
