Giving Back to Improve Hygiene and Inspire School Learners and Their Communities

Menstrual hygiene management remains a significant challenge, impacting the education of many girls. Studies and surveys indicate that approximately 28% of girls in Uganda miss school due to menstrual-related issues.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we sought to inspire Primary Seven candidates of Nawanyago Primary School in Kamuli district. We equipped them with knowledge and skills to confidently use reusable sanitary towels during their examination period and beyond, while also providing career guidance to support their transition after primary school.
We conducted sessions on menstrual health, career guidance, parent/ caretaker engagement, teacher engagement, having been wellprepared through a staff training on proper use of reusable sanitary towels by AFRI pads. 220 learners, teachers, parents and district officials were engaged, while 86 primary seven candidates received scholastic materials.
